About Kam

Our Story

How it started, what the name means, and why the collection stays small.

The founders, over tea

How We Started

Kam began the way most good things do — over tea, between friends. The founders met through a shared love of it, and what started as a single cup turned into hundreds of conversations, dozens of sourcing trips, and places they'd never have found their way to otherwise. Somewhere in that process, the curation itself — the sharing of what they'd collected — became the point.

The character 甘, in ink

The Name & The Logo

Kam comes from 甘 (gān), a character that means both sweetness and willingness. It's the quiet idea behind everything we do — an openness to seek out what's worth sharing. Our logo carries the same character, drawn in the spirit of old Chinese stamps, after the many ways 甘 has been rendered over centuries.

What Makes Us Different

We don't try to carry everything. Every tea in the collection is chosen, not just stocked — a small, considered archive rather than a catalog. What makes Kam special isn't scale, it's discernment: we'd stand behind every selection completely, or it doesn't make the cut.
